If you are one person traveling light from Metrotown to YVR at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday, the Expo Line to Commercial–Broadway and the Canada Line to YVR will cost you $4.25 and about 40 minutes. That is a reasonable option and we will not pretend otherwise.
Where the calculation shifts: early morning flights when SkyTrain is not yet running, groups of 3 or more splitting the fare, heavy luggage or equipment that makes transit impractical, international arrivals late at night when you want a driver at the gate rather than a platform at midnight, or corporate clients where a metered cab simply is not the right presentation.
